Whilst several books contain short chapters on the Gordon Setter breed the titles listed below are considered to be the most important.

If you require any further information on any of these publications please contact either Debra Harker or Maggy Halliday.

The Gordon Setter - History and Character by G St. G M Gompertz

First published in 1976, the late Godfrey Gompertz's book "The Gordon Setter, History and Character" quickly established itself as one of the best single breed books ever written. Unfortunately, later in the 1980's the author, thinking that he had sold all he could, pulped the remaining unbound copies. Recently, second hand copies have been advertised in a specialist second-hand book dealers' lists priced between £175 and £300.

Now the opportunity has been taken, with the full co-operation and encouragement of Godfrey Gompertz's family, to reprint the book. The text and photographs (4 in colour, 32 plates in black and white) are exactly the same as in the original but a page of a small number of corrections has been inserted at the end. The dust jacket has also been redesigned. This reissue is a high quality hardback, essential for any Gordon enthusiast.

Please contact Geoffrey Atkinson, Tel : +44 (0) 1330 811363 or Email : Geoffrey Atkinson for further details on the reissue of "The Gordon Setter - History and Character" by the late Godfrey Gompertz.
